    self-correcting — that’s what people seem to be saying. very intense cleansing of neighborhoods, heavy displacement, after the samarra mosque bombing. now “largely done”.

    yeah yeah. all stats dubious. but, many stories say baghdad’s more shi’a now than it used to be sunni, with little mixing. i don’t get the feeling there’s much desire to have prolonged fighting — “keep away” sounds more like the overall idea — but terrible things are still the norm.
